Importing Your CDs on Your Computer Using iTunes

Those of you reading my blog will of read yesterday on my Tips For Upgrading Your Imported CDs on iTunes so today I’m going to bring you some more iTunes tips on adding your CDs to iTunes music, simple enough to do, but what if you want to control how iTunes records your CDs and what format they are when they have been added to iTunes.
Ok, load up your iTunes and select preferences “Edit>Preferences” now you want to be in the general tab, you want to edit the settings to to be the same as those in the picture below:
This is to tell iTunes that you want to view the CD contents before you add it to iTunes, very helpful if you only want certain tracks and not the whole album. Now you have that set, click the “Import Settings” button, this will now upon up a window for the recording quality.
There are several formats you can record in AAC, AIFF, Apple Lossless, MP3 and WAV. I’m going to choose AAC which is the standard on iTunes, so just click on the “Import Using” box to select your chosen format for CD ripping!

Now we have chosen that, click on setting and select “Custom” this will now open the window for setting your custom settings, I have an iPod classic, so I have the room to produce bigger files for the music so I use a VBR (Variable Bit Rate) which is what the iTunes store now also uses.

If you use the same settings I have above then you recording sound pretty good, obviously you can play around with the settings, but, I’ve found these to give a good recording while not having a file that is too big.
So after confirming these settings all you have to do is insert your CD and view the contents, decide if you want the whole album or just certain tracks and then hit the “Import CD” button, if you are upgrading tracks then you will see a warning asking if you want to replace the files, click “Replace Existing” and off it goes.
That’s about it really, it’s that simple.
