Many of my online acquaintances and colleagues are in awe at the number of social networks and websites I am an active member of. With more and more of them popping up everyday, people wonder where I get the time to do it all? And why do I do it? Do I really enjoy socializing that much on-line?

In my eyes, every single site is another opportunity to get a backlink (potentially a high quality one) to the websites that I own (usually this one). So at the very least, I make sure to register, put up a photo/avatar, fill in my basic profile information, make some friend requests, and get my links up. After that, I can keep an active presence with the assistance of some powerful broadcasting websites.

PING

1. Ping.fm is my favorite social broadcasting website. When I have an important message or promotion, I head to Ping first. One click puts my post on dozens of social bookmarking/networking websites in a second.

2.  SocialAdr is a site that I just recently joined, and I had just been introduced to many of the sites that it broadcasts to. This is a network tailored to on-line marketers and incentive is offered to share the links of others. This site is social bookmarking on steroids!

SocialADR

3. Amplify has turned out to be a treasured resource because my posts usually are commented on or recommended by its active members. When I have something special to say, I make sure to AMPLIFY it and have been very pleased with the results. You can also do some very cool things with your profile page (e.g. put your Professional Facebook Page on the sidebar and customize your background.) If you take some time to correctly set up these services to post on your various networks, you will be able to post to dozens of networks and social bookmarking websites with a simple click. Do not underestimate the power of the broadcast. Set up these services once and get a lifetime of effective exposure.

One word of warning: Run a test to make sure your sites don’t go “ping crazy” and you end up with multiple identical links on the same site, not to mention a bad reputation! Also make sure that the message you’re broadcasting is one that is worthy of the exposure… you can’t ‘undo’ a broadcast.
