Join My Experiment

Posted by Dick on Feb 9, 2010 in Blogging For Business |

We’ve all been hearing the buzz about social media, blogging, Twitter, Facebook, and a host of others. How it can humanize a business, separate yourself from the crowd, build trust and create authority, build your own community around your product, service and brand, and a whole lot more.

Where once a blog was the tool of big business with large marketing departments, it is now a simple process and available to everyman, easy as clicking a mouse!

So what does my experiment consist of? Where a small group of bloggers, all experts in their fields,  undertake the task of bringing a whole town into “today’s” Internet and document the results for humanity.  Any business in my town,  or any town for that matter, that wants to put forth a little effort,  has at their fingertips (via this blog), all the free information available to them and can use it to set themselves apart.

The Country Web Doctor (me) and my blog team is available to you 24/7,  365 days a year. You cant get much better support than that. Just ask a question via a comment on any post within this blog and chances are you will be bombarded with answers and even more useful information than you asked for. Take what you want, just let us know how it worked for you!

The big companies are getting it. Millions of dollars are made with corporate blogs that feature promotions that really connect with both current customers and prospective ones. In small town America we have yet to convince the small business owner that this stuff ain’t just for the big city folks. People around here say sure, the big guns like Dell and IBM can do it but why should we? Nobody has time to deal with this social media thing, you have to be an expert at it or else pay to have it done and that costs too much and I already know everybody worth knowing in this town anyway!

Well, maybe every business in small town in America doesn’t need it. A place like Tenney, Minnesota for example, with a population of 6! Everyone else…

So, here we take the hook, line and sinker approach to helping small business. Instead of trying to sell a business on the need for a blog or bore the owner to tears with long winded speeches about  how it will help them gain new prospects, we decided to take a more proactive approach – by showing them.

We focus on a business that we think will benefit by having an online presence that will really work for their business model, we build it and then present it to them. Risky, you say, well nothing ever gets done by sitting around and talking about it. And something happens to people when they see these beautiful blogs with their company’s name all over them! They call this preventive medicine in the medical community.

Many thanks to a talented guy, Adrian Hughes at the PC Doctor for the cartoon image.
