In So You Want To Start Blogging I show how reading and commenting on other blogs can help bloggers develop content for a new blog post. If you’ve decided to start your blog on a free blog site you are most likely using Blogger or WordPress.com. Both of these free blog sites have advantages and disadvantages which I discuss in detail over at Ms. Ileane’s Blog. But wait, there’s a better solution.
Plugin and sign up for a free blog at the Blogging Wire!
Here’s why: with a Blogging Wire blog you can access some of the best WordPress plugins without the cost or the hassle that comes with self-hosting. You will find many plugins that make social networking on Twitter and FaceBook a breeze, and help you keep your readers fully engaged. Podcasters will find the Viper Video Quicktag plugin very handy for customizing and resizing video without the need to embed. Take a look at this partial list of plugins available for your Blogging Wire:
- [ad#Google Adsense]
- Advertising Manager
- Akismet
- All in One SEO Pack
- CommentLuv
- DoFollow
- External Links
- FaceBook Share
- Follow My Links
- Google Analyticator
- Lightbox Gallery
- Other Posts From Cat
- Subscribe to Comments
- Top Commentators Widget
- TweetMeme Retweet Button
- TwitterTools
- Viper Video Quicktags
- WP- Blogengage
- WP Greet Box
- WP Supercache
Blogging Wire will get you started with learning to use plugins and discovering which ones are right for you. Currently, over 50 bloggers have become Blogging Wire Members and I recommend it to new bloggers or any blogger that wants to fire up a new blog. I have two blogs here, the other one is called Engaging With Ms. Ileane Speaks where you can find articles on Twitter and blogging. Brian (the owner of Blog Engage blog forum and Blogging Wire) keeps you up to date with new plugins that are added at his Blogging Wire Blog.

I love WP plugins. They allow customization without bogging down the initial system with bloatware. MicroSoft could learn a lesson from that!

Hi Alison, It’s great how I’m getting to exposed to using all of these plugins over here at Blogging Wire. Brian always has something good up his sleeve.

Plug-ins are great especially now when you can update automatically via the admin interface. Speaking of which, my favorite plug-in is comluv

Hi Dana,
I don’t have the External Links plugin turned on but here is the description Marks outbound links as such, with various effects that are configurable under settings.
When I did use it, I had it set to place little arrows over all external links. I didn’t like the way the arrows looked so I got rid of it. But there are other setting that you might want to try. Maybe I’ll talk more about them soon.
Thanks for visiting. Did you get a chance to vote yet at Blog Engage?

Thanks for the post, Ileane. Well done as always.
I really think that Brian has provided a couple of great services for bloggers, and that cannot be overstated.
BE Forums and Blogging Wire are great sites with really fine community members.
I like to think that I would have eventually made my way to BE, but it was the invitation from you Ileane, that brought me into the community. THANKS!
While I am giving credit where credit is due, where is my girl Kissie?
I received an email or a comment (not sure which) asking if I was on blogging Wire from her. It sounded like “You need to get on over there if you are not there already”
. I signed up the next day.
This is one of the wonderful things about the online life. Good peeps are always looking out and opening new opportunities in some fashion, which is why I always say…
Keep Blogging!

Hey Jimi,
It’s great that Brian has provided these networking resources for bloggers. Joining the community has been very rewarding for both of us, oh yeah and Kissie too! There’s no telling what wonderful things are in store for us.
Thanks for your continued support.

This post was mentioned on Twitter by Ileane: @BloggerTalk Hi Rose, here’s my Plugin post http://ow.ly/13iUH...
Oh My God, so lot of features and plugins ready at disposal. Its great. I’ll be using it for my new blog. But for now I can’t transport all the posts and comments to new platform, so has to be limited.
I started with blogger because it supported my own domain name and I’m spending most of the time installing plugins for my blogger blog by editing HTML code of template. It would have been lot easier if I knew this earlier. Even now I’m adding BlogEngage vote button on the posts for my blogger blog.

Brian has something good going there. I just took a look. I couldn’t find the terms of service though?
Hey Rose, thanks for visiting. I can ask him about the TOS over in the Blogging Wire Forum. I’ll let you know what he says.
Hi There! Not to hijack the comments towards Brian’s comment (sorry Ileane!), but I want to second what Element said. The more plug-ins on the blogs, the slower they’ll load and the worse they’ll do in search engine rankings.
.-= Samantha´s last blog ..Competing for Wages on Elance =-.
Thanks for all of the plugins. Just remember the more you add, the slower WordPress will load for everyone.

Hi Brian, thanks for providing some of the best plugins for us here. You have more blogs than me AND Brandon Cox. LOL
.-= Ileane´s last blog ..Branding The Podcast Blog =-.
I try to add as many plugins as I possible can. I like to give our members the look and feel of a unique and self hosted blog.
So far I think the community is growing at an amazing pace! I already started like 5 blogs haha! It’s so easy and fun.
